ATTLEBORO — A small home furniture shop that advanced from a woodworking store on a farm in the 1930s is closing.
Swanton’s Home furnishings and Present Barn, a landmark at 127 Lindsey St. considering the fact that 1952, is shutting down soon after 70 a long time.
When it was established the store produced its personal home furniture for a time.
But that was ultimately phased out and the retail store acquired household furniture from the numerous suppliers in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine.

Its previous day is Saturday when proprietor John “Jack” Siddall, 87, is hoping to offer the remaining parts of inventory at steep discounts.
“It’s time,” he stated, even though his thoughts are blended.
“We had a wonderful time and we experienced fantastic shoppers,” he claimed. “But now is the correct time.”
His kids are not fascinated in continuing the business enterprise and since the pandemic, business enterprise has been down.

Both of those Jack and Sandy, aka the “Beanie Newborn Girl,” were very well recognized around Attleboro.

And Jack is still serving on the boards of the Sturdy Basis and Attleboro Enterprises, which assists developmentally disabled people today.
