In Molly Shannon’s new book Hello, Molly!, she recalled a disturbing encounter with Diff’rent Strokes star Gary Coleman, even though the way she tells it, the incident was not with out humor. Back again when Shannon was a young, struggling actress, Coleman attempted to sexually assault her, but he was so tiny that she “didn’t come to feel bodily threatened,” and managed to practically toss him apart.
Shannon comprehensive the tale in an April 12th visual appearance on The Howard Stern Exhibit. In the late 1980s, the upcoming Saturday Evening Live star thought she had caught her major crack when she attracted the awareness of agent Mark Randall, who also represented Coleman. But a meeting with Randall turned out to be a setup. Coleman joined them, and then the trio headed up to the hotel’s Presidential Suite wherever Coleman was being. “We went into the room and then Mark disappeared,” she explained.
At the time, Coleman would have been in his early 20s, and he was one particular of the most famous sitcom stars in the world. Born with a rare kidney problem, he under no circumstances grew more substantial than 4′ 8″, and he preserved a cherubic boy or girl-like face nicely into adulthood. He was seeking to kiss me and get on best of me, and I was like, ‘Gary, stop.’ So I’d thrust him off. Then I would get off the bed, then he’d bounce on the mattress – bounce, soar, jump, leap – and wrap himself all over me, then I would fling him off, then he received on best of me. I was like, ‘Gary, prevent!’ but I guess for the reason that of his dimensions I did not feel bodily threatened.”
Just after a several minutes of this, she retreated to the bathroom. “I go to the bathroom, and then he grabs on to my leg. I experienced to kick him off,” Shannon recalled. “Then I go lock myself into the rest room and then he sticks his arms under the doorway and mentioned, ‘I can see you, silly billy!’” Recalling the phrase, “Silly billy,” she laughed.
She waited for an opportune moment, and then “I just sprinted out. I assume I was likely very well mannered.” She ran into Randall on the way out, and instructed him, “You gotta view that shopper of yours.” She added, “I wish I could’ve stood up for myself extra. I did not. That’s all I mentioned.”
Stern savored the humor of the tale. “But truly, it’s not amusing,” he claimed when she was accomplished. “The full point is so fucked up and it’s all so unfortunate.”
